A Japanese eyewear maker Masunaga Optical employee displays the blinking "Wink Glasses", which are supposed to help prevent dry-eye when the users concentrate on video gaming or on the Internet. The Wink Glasses, powered by button batteries or USB, have a small sensor to watch how often the user blinks and to make the lens fog when the user keeps his eye open for five seconds without blinking.

OK… you just need to see this. Even if you don't understand Japanese, see if you can pick out the references to "chainsaws" in the theme song. Also, can you figure out what the Batman-esque "whammo" bubbles say?

Honda's new walking-assist device

On November 7th, from the makers of the ASIMO humanoid robot, a new walking-assist machine was unveiled. This prototype by Honda uses the same ASIMO technology to lessen the load on the user's legs. Intended to help improve mobility of the elderly and physical therapy patients, the walking assist device aims to help users climb stairs and (for assembly workers) remain in crouching positions for longer periods of time without joint or back strain.

Despite the fact that it weighs in at 14.3 lbs, the frame (legs), saddle, and sensors in the shoes supposedly provide comfort and the necessary resistance to make walking easier.

Other than the initial exhibit, Honda has yet to decide how much it will cost or even when it will be available to the public.

Aside from looking like you're walking with a dump in your pants, it really does look like a pretty cool invention. See the video below.

They can read your mind!

In what's reported as a world first, a research group in Kyoto, Japan has been able to take brainwaves and adapt it into actual images, in essence creating images from your brain.

This is huge! Although I have to admit that the method they are using is not quite what I had in mind for "mind reading", it still has some kind of potential.

Is it at all possible for us to actually read minds with brain waves? Who can say! Only the Japanese would seem to spend so much money doing something like this. (not that I'm complaining)

μTRON Keyboard: because typing wasn't hard enough

Are you a hunt and peck typist? Then you should probably stop reading right now.

The μTRON Keyboard is supposed to make typing easier, by placing the most-used keys in the center of the keyboard for easy access with the index finder and thumb.

According to their website, the symmetrical key layout is tailored to the the natural movement of the hand…of course, the footnote states that it may take some time to get used to the new layout.

You can't buy it online yet, but the SRP is $530 (USD) and you can inquire about it here.

Tuttuki Bako – put those fingers to work

What's better than having a normal alarm clock? Having one that you can stick your finger in and out…and in and out of to play games! Seriously.

The Tuttuki Bako comes in 3 colors: red, black, and green. When you stick your finger into the hole on the side, it displays on screen. There are 5 "stages" in the game, Panda (flick the panda on the swing), Ameba (or amoeba, play with a gelatinous blob), Face (pick its nose until it sneezes), Sea (poke at a shell until an octopus sprays ink on you), and Figure (flick a karate stickman offscreen).

Tomy Limited Edition KurohiGAY Kiki-Ippatsu

For those familiar with Tomy's Pop-up Pirate game, the Japanese have released a Hard Gay version of the game. If you've never seen "Hard Gay", google it now. It really deserves an entry of its own.

The Kurohige Kiki-Ippatsu (Blackbeard One-shot Crisis) was once (and maybe still is, who knows) Tomy Japan's flagship product.

What makes the Hard Gay version (KurohiGAY Kiki-Ippatsu) interesting, though, is the way Hard Gay went about convincing the executives to produce it.

Luckily, parts one and two of his KurohiGAY Kiki Ippatsu videos are posted below.
