Japanese friendlier than Koreans?

A recent poll by The Chosun Ilbo reports that while it's no secret that the Japanese and Koreans don't like eachother, the Japanese feel more friendly toward the Koreans than vice versa.

The poll showed that while 50% of the Japanese people surveyed feel friendly toward Koreans, only 41% of Koreans feel the same.

But when asked to name the strengths of the other Country, here's what they had to say:

Koreans named [for Japanese] technology (29%), diligence (15%), law-abidingness (13%) and kindness (11%). The Japanese named [for Koreans] strong will (29%), a fighting spirit (11%), diligence (10%) and etiquette (9%). Only 3% of Koreans said they did not know, but as many as 28% of Japanese respondents opted for the same answer, a sign that the interest of the Japanese in Korea is lower than the other way round.

So does this mean the Japanese are truly friendlier? Or just indifferent?

So how, then, does one reconcile the massive popularity K-Drama and Korean singers in Japan as of late? Hmmm…
