Giving up on Women is a Common Theme in Japan

We all know that dating can be tough. All the protocol and the little games can make a guy wonder if it's even worth it. Well, in Japan, an increasing number are deciding that it's not worth it. However, giving up women is apparently worth about $170,000 USD to one man. That's approximately how much he has spent over a decade building a harem of hyper-realistic sex dolls. You heard right – SEX DOLLS!

According to recent research conducted by Dr. Kunio Kitamura, 1/3 of Japanese couples have effectively given up on sex, claiming that they are too tired after work or that they find sex boring. As a result, the national birthrate of Japan has fallen to 1.34 children per couple. You don't have to be a math whiz to realize that this is below the replenishment rate of 2. Of course, if you've ever seen a crosswalk in Tokyo during rush hour, this may not seem like a bad idea.

Maybe if the Japanese would adopt a little American laziness, they would have more energy for sex. Maybe if they put as much energy into sex as they do their comedy, it wouldn't be boring. Or maybe if they would look at the price of a harem of sex dolls, they'd have sex on purely economic grounds.
